Heal Our Land...

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

I must admit that I am both overwhelmed and outraged by the current state of our nation. These past few months or so have been filled with loss, murder, greed, and grave injustice. I have been so burdened with all of this all while trying to make sense of it from a spiritual perspective. Is it the wrath of God? Is it end time prophecy being fulfilled? How do I become the change I want to see in the world?

Well, what I have realized is that the root issue is not racism, hatred, or injustice. These things are just the manifestation of a much larger issue which has to do with the condition of the heart! Many of our hearts have been seduced away from God which is why we have all of the hatred, malice, perversion, anger, and greed. This is not just true for the world, but for the church as well. We have to align our hearts with the will of God so that we can produce the fruit of his spirit which is love, joy, peace, righteousness, and justice!

I am a Black woman, wife of a Black man, and mother to three black children. I vacillate between excitement about their future and being terrified. My sons could be shot down while running through our neighborhood. My husband could be killed in the middle of the day by a police officer while the world watches. For this reason, we must pray incessantly for our children because they are at risk of living in a world that is completely void of God's love, not because God is not present but because we won't yield our hearts to him. We must be the arms and feet of Jesus. We must be a conduit of his love and grace.

I’m overwhelmed but I still have hope! Hope that things will get better and that God's will will be done in the earth. Hope that justice will prevail and racial healing will manifest.

My Prayer: Lord, have mercy on us and help us as a people to turn back to you wholeheartedly. I pray that you would strengthen those who are fighting the fight of faith and weaken the grip of the enemy on the hearts and minds of your people. Allow your unfailing love to conquer all hatred and fear. I pray this in Jesus' name! Amen.
