Do it all for Christ...
While sitting at my desk today, I heard these words resound in my spirit..."Only what you do for Christ will last!"
We've all heard this before...a very popular Christian hymn:
Remember only what You do for Christ will last.
Remember only what you do for Christ will last,
only what you do for Him will be counted at the end;
only what you do for Christ will last.
These lyrics are simple, yet so powerful. As Christians, we often lose sight of what's really important in life. We have all been guilty of getting so caught up in the cares of the world that we forget why we are here. Beloved, we are not here to work, make money, get married, etc... We are here to bring glory to God through everything that we do. We are here to win others to Christ through the ministry of reconciliation. This is not just for the preachers but for all spirit-filled believers.
Only what you do for Christ will last...
Maybe things are not working out the way they ought to because you have not resolved to do "it" for Christ. Your business has to bring glory to God. Your marriage has to bring glory to God. Your ministry has to bring glory to God. It is very possible to be doing the work of God, and God not be pleased. We want God to bless us but we don't make him the priority. When was the last time you prayed and asked God to get the glory out of what you were doing? When was the last time you asked God if he was pleased with what you were doing? Say it with me..."Ouch!"
It's the enemy's desire to distract us from our purpose and to move us out of the will of God. With the recent presidential election and all that is happening in the world, we need God more than ever! People are dying everyday so it's imperative that we get busy doing what God has called us to do. Time is not on our side. If God has placed something in your heart to do, do it! Like in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), God wants a return on what he has entrusted to you. Like Jesus, we must "be about our father's business!"
I just wanted to encourage you not waste any more time on stuff that doesn't matter. Everyday is a gift so make the most of it. Be intentional. Be fearless. Be who God has called you to be.
